@Rose - Honestly, for me, I wouldn't like it. But that's just me. There are guys out there who couldn't care less. Actually most guys don't care about the whole hair dying thing. I've just always had it set in my mind that you should be how God made you to be. Because like I said, God doesn't make mistakes. ~Kid Love

Do you mean dyeing hair at all? I don't think it's necessary unless you need to.

Consider this:

Let's say you have a girlfriend, the same age as you, that all of the sudden starts to get premature grey hairs (hereditary). Would you still not like her to dye her hair? Because, after all, it really is "leaving herself the way God made her" if she doesnt dye it. Would you consider dyeing hair unattractive in that scenario?

Honestly, I'd be okay with the grey. It would make her different. Unique. Considering the age. One of my best friends has grey hairs. A lot. And he's only 20. His gf loves it. Because it's him. It's a part of who he is. ~Kid Love

I really dont mind it when girls dye there hair as long as they dont over do it. And when i say over do it im talking about the girls who dye there hair so blonde it could look white from a distance ha thats kinda a turnoff. But i dont mind the little streaks that some girls do, if it works for them then im fine with that

wake up and praise the Lord
rise up you sleepy soul

I posted a reply last night and the internet crashed and it didn't get posted! Trying to remember my thought....
@ KidLove, If you're going to take that verse in Corinthians literally, then do you believe women should cover their heads? We were part of a church and all the women had to keep their heads covered. We left and Dad decided we didn't have to and it felt like being released from bondage! I still have fairly long hair and I wanted to get dark highlights in it but it was going to cost an arm and leg since my hair is long. I don't think a little dye is bad, though I admire you for liking girls who are naturally how they are. I don't wear make up and if someone doesn't like me that way that's their problem. Make up takes too long and on me, is itchy.
My grandpa started going grey at 13, poor guy! I don't know of any girls who are grey though I know some going bald! I think it's creepy weird when guys dye their hair. My (not quite bf) is going bald in the back and since he's a few years older than I I tease him for being an old man.

sometimes He says yes. Sometimes He says no. Sometimes He says wait awhile....

@Clare - Well it says in 11:15 that her hair is given to her for her covering. I know that at Apostolic churches, the women cover their hair. That is under their own conviction. Who am I to be the judge of them? ~Kid Love

Nate: funny fact... I have a relative whose hair is so platinum blond you'd think it was white. When I was super young, I used to think she was an albino. Nope, it's just her natural hair color! And I agree, I really don't care about dye as long as it's not, like, electric blue. (Even then, some of my gal friends are kinda "rock chick" and they will have, like, one blue or red stripe, and it looks fine.)

Claire: My grandmother was salt and pepper by 25, so... it happens.

Kidlove: Mennonites do it too. Now... here's a question for you: a man who takes on a Nazaritic vow is not to cut his hair. Is the long hair that results a dishonor to him? And how do you define "long hair"? Just wondering what you think of that.

By the by, people, this is basically an opinion section, so remember that.

@WJR - Quick question, what would a present day Nazarite Vow consist of? Well more important how would it end? ~Kid Love

You know about the Mennonites wjr?? We were Mennonites for like 10 years!
@ Kat, being a girl who wore dresses as shapeless as paper bags and wearing my hair covered, yes I did receive attention. I always got lots of comments on my smile and personality. I still want to know what guys have to say though.
@ kidlove, what is the purpose of taking the Nazarite Vow? I guess if someone took it then thier long hair wouldn't be a shame. I don't dig long hair at all! I think hair any longer than what DaFishyDude's hair looks like is too long. My brother has hair like DaFishy, maybe that's why I'm partial to it. Guys with long hair are usually bikers that are rude crude and drinkers

I'm glad my hair isn't too long hahahah :) trust me its not the grungy long hair that is typical of skaters or rockers. It's flowing locks. :) I think long hair on guys looks really weird. Any longer than what's in the picture and i get a haircut, or else i begin to resemble Bozo the Clown. (trust me not a good look) hahah

I'm a nerd, but god still loves me. :)

Kidlove: I would presume it would be just the same as the original. No wine, grapes, etc. (and in some interpretations alcohol in general), not to cut one's hair (the only point really relevant), and to avoid corpses. How would it end? Normally the vow was either taken for a specific amount of time, or permanently, so it would end when the time ran out.

Claire: Yes, we're quite good friends with a Mennonite church in Michigan, who I don't think are of the strictest breeding, but are nonetheless rather conservative. And I agree, the shapeless dresses are weird... though this group didn't wear those... I think it was a conservative Lutheran friend who wore those.

I think this has come up before, but I'm curious: what do you all (not just guys) think of piercings?

Adelynn: Funny, I almost said what I thought of them in the last post I made. I personally don't like them. I've liked girls (still do) who have them, and wouldn't make my wife let it heal over, but... I just personally don't like them. (I will know what happened if all of a sudden some of my gal friends stop wearing earrings.) I probably actually wouldn't even tell them unless they asked.

@WJR - I can't really say anything about it. I mean honestly, who am I to judge? If it's what they believe, it's what they believe. --- @ Adelynn - I'm with WJR on this one. I don't like piercings either. If I'm asked my opinion on them by friends, I will tell them. ~Kid Love

Hi, new kid on the block here.
Personally, I kind of like a small pair of earrings, or even small studs, or whatever you call them. I think they look really cute on the girl that I like! Pretty much any other body piercings...no. I think they're gross!

and yet, piercings on women are very Biblical =] My point being that I totally agree with Will, these are just opinions, and our opinions are influenced by our own perceptions and society (and in our society, body piercing tends to be looked down on)

Hey, Grant! =]

@Adelynn - for a few years now, I've been wanting to get my lower lip pierced. it wasn't like I prayed about it for hours on end and fasted for weeks.* =p I just felt like doing it. so I turned 18 over a month ago, and finally got around to asking my parents about it. my mom was fine with it. my dad? not so much. he would've let me, but his reaction was, "I won't like it." and you all know how that is! that's the hidden "no." so I'm not doing it, simple as that. it's not over holy conviction from the Lord, it's discipline from my parents. and it's not because I'm under their roof (because, technically, I could get the piercing without parental consent, being 18), it's because I honor and respect them.

so! in my personal opinion, piercings (this view also stands for tats) are alright with me as long as they don't degrade a person. huge gauges and the multiple other random places you can get a piercing (some are just awkward!), I don't agree with. my piercing would've been a simple stud or silver ring, not anything gaudy. again, I think it's just personal taste, not a matter of salvation.

*disclaimer - please don't misunderstand me, I'm not negating the purpose or importance of prayer or fasting. I believe strongly in both.

You may as well come quiet.

Hey hey!
@Adelynn, that's interesting...do you have any references to that? Now I'm curious! :)

@emily, first of all, thank you for respecting your dad's opinion/decision, etc. I'm sure it meant alot to him! Not to be judgemental, and it's really none of my business, and you don't have to answer it, but I'm curious. Why do you want to wear a lip ring?

haha I really really want my nose pierced, but first I have to find a work place that will be okay with that =]

In the Old Testament, if a slave decided to stay with the master's family forever, they would pierce the slave's ear (Exodus 21.6 Check out Romans 6.18, about being a slave). Some versions of Isaiah 3.20 say something about nose piercings. Genesis 24.22 talks about Isaac's future bride being given a nose ring.

I knew a girl who had piercings almost everywhere on her face. it was rather sickening! (and the fact that her younger sister did it to her at home didn't help at all!)
@ Adelynn: Women having piercings in the Bible: Is that mentioned alot? I know that Rebekah (Isaac's wife) did, but are there any others? Just curious. :)

Nice to have you Grant! We'll be looking for your "pearls of wisdom"!! :)

In the Exodus 21:6 account, my bible doesn't say anything about putting anything in it, but I understand it as being more symbolic than anything. The act of the servant giving up his will, and being "stamped" with the seal of his master, AKA a hole in his ear.
Romans 6:18..."Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness." ???
Isaiah 3:21, "The rings and nose jewels," Please read all of chapter 3. It's not a pretty picture...3:21 is only part of a long list of jewels/luxurious clothing that the Lord was taking away from Jerusalem and Judah in judgment.
Genesis 24:47 does say that Abraham's servant, tasked with taking a wife to his son, did put a gold ring in her nose, and bracelets on her hands, as well as giving jewelry to her family.
Check out Ezekiel chapter 16. It's very interesting!
I'm not trying to say that you're wrong, or that wanting piercings is wrong, but these verses will stir your thoughts in some way or another. Like I always say, if you, AND God, after prayer, and thorough consideration believe that something is right and good for you to do, then by all means do it!
