Yeah... I don't hug random strangers... I normally must have known the person @ least for a couple of days b4 i'll hug them... (Like @ camps etc lol)
but yeah, I've always wondered, and I'm not sure if I've posted it b4, but do any of y'all tend to hug differnet people differently? Like I said above, I hug guys I like, like 2 seconds longer than normal, but like girls, do you hug people differently, and guys, how do you hug girls you like, especially if you actually do respect them?? |

With other guys I usually just give them a handshake, but if we ever hug it's usually a man-hug, which I found the definition of on Wikipedia.

With girls I just give a normal hug but only for a couple seconds, and I hardly ever hug somebody except on big occasions, like dances or birthdays or such. |

haha i love what emilyjanelle said about handshakes.................thats lyk xactly how i feel about it 2. when the guy lyk comes up to u and everything its just lyka majr turn-on and a big confidence booster.it makes me feel really special.
btw, w/ the whole hugging thing, besides my family, i only hug the guy i lyk. thats it. maybe if a guy friend hu8gs me ill hug him back but thats it.
ok another question for the guys, but u girls can answer too:
im wondering if the guy i like hugs me, which he usually does, if i want to hug him longer, do i keep hugging him? lyk if i want to make him feel better about something or just remind him how much he means to me, does it creep guys out to have the girl they like initiate a longer hug by holding on longer? |

Well...I hug all my friends. Guys and girls alike. Except for the guy I like, because that would be way too...I don't know...Hard to explain.
But...I agree with side hugs. I only give real hugs when I'm proud of them, or they just won something, or if they are really, really sad. |

| I don't agree. Overanalzying would be far more specious and pointless. And I also don't agree that a hug is just a hug. Do you hug a close family member the same way as a complete stranger? |

I'm not a huggy person, but I'm not exactly sure how to say hello to some of my friends, either!! I hug close girlfriends, but I always sort of muddle up hello's to my guy friends. It just seems awkward to shake their hand, but more awkward for me to hug them =]
Is there a third option that I anyone can point out for me? |

High fives, or "hand hugs" (where you put your palms together and wrap your thumb around their hand)!!  I tend to give a lot of high fives/hand hugs to people, especially if they're a guy and I'm proud of them. Sometimes we develop a crazy-style hand shake dealio and do that randomly (then laugh histerically because we're so white). It's not too formal (like a handshake) but not too intimate (like a hug).  |
