| Ok, here goes. I'm friends with a friend of mine's exgirlfriend on Facebook. I've never met her before. But a couple of months ago I posted on facebook,(text me)as my status(who doesn't??). But what do ya know, she texts me. And ever since, we've been texting(keep in mind that we've never even met eachother). And she says that she feels like she KNOWS me, and she's even said that she LIKEs me. She seems really cool, and yes, she is Christian, but i just think it's a little odd to like someone you've never even met. And I won't even dare tell my parents about her, I mean, lord knows what they'll think of it!!! HELP!!???!!!? |

txt relationships suck alot of the time... a friend of mine got asked out over txt, this guy she'd only met once, and they'd never talked at all... and about 3 months later, without ever speaking in person, it ended stupidly.... idk I just am not a fan of txt relationships... or relationships just for the sake of saying "I'm not single" haha. if it's weirding you out, you need to tell someone, if you're not comfortable talking to your parents, what about a youth pastor? or an older friend who's respectable, who'd know a bit about this stuff and give you godly answers? |

I understand how it could be awkward, and I'm not one to tell my parents stuff like that either, even though the trust they would have for me would probably outweigh their distrust of the other person. I'm glad you see it, though, that it's kind of impossible to have a relationship or think you know someone over texting (with nothing else!). It's like in the long-distance topic, it's much easier to tell people things online/on the phone, things you might not have shared in a face to face conversation. I know I fell into that- I fell for a guy I was too nervous to talk to in real life, but we'd have these deep conversations online, and I felt like we were soul mates or something, but then I would see him and get tongue tied or, eventually, I figured out that he really was the great guy I thought he was, but neither of us was willing to have those heart-to-heart conversations in real life because we hadn't built it on a friendship. I knew personal things about him, but I couldn't have told you basic friendship things like what he liked to watch or what he wanted to do for a career, who his other friends were or what he liked to eat. It wasn't worth it. |

Okay, so, I FINALLY met her last Saturday! She is to awsome. The reason we finally met was because she was in a musical(ANNIE) in my town. And she sings beautifully. But anyway, I'm relieved we finally met and my parents approve 100% so that helps lol She wants to go ahead and start dating, but I wanna wait till I'm 16 and she respects that and says she'll wait for me. |
