| What do you guys think about age differences in relationships? I had a friend who married a guy 10 years older than her, and another friend liked a guy 4 years younger then her. Do you think that it really matters? When is older to much older? |

In the teen years, being around 15, and having someone even 4 years older or younger then you is huge. But once you become an adult, it doesn't matter too much. It's like I know a couple that are 33 and 43 years old, and you don't give it a second thought really, but imagine, at our age dating someone 10 years younger then you...... you'd be dating a 5 year old....
Those are my thoughts on it. |

yeah it depends, in my veiw, 10 years diff is about the biggest. My best friend's sister got married when she was 19 (my age) to a 46 year old man who had kids... I think thats a bit scary!! |

Well, if you are still young, I think it should be 1-2 yr. difference. If you are around 25 or something, I would think that 5 yr. is the max difference. In my opinion, I think the guy should be the older one. |

for me i wood prefer the guy to be older cuz i think it'd be a lot easier for me to respect him as the leader in our relationship. but there wood probably be times when might be different. but i think i wood not want the age difference to be bigger than about 5 years |

I want someone taller than me too! but as for age... I seem to have more respect for younger guys because they aren't as egotistical as older guys. and most likely wont try to force you to do something you dont want to do... and younger guys are more carefree and arent so focused on being "cool" (in my experience, correct me if Im wrong...) and will have fun being spazz etc, whereas older guys try to be more serious (but if you like serious, hey, go for it lol) but yeah... My age limits for myself is not more than 2 years younger or 2 years older... but you never know if you'll change your mind in the future... |

| I know someone who married a guy 16 years older then her. They now have been married for a few years (I don't remember how many) and they have a son who is a few months old. They husband is actually the main drummer on the various worship teams at my church and is close friends with my dad. And then there are several couples at my church where the wife is even five years older then the husband. Our family life pastor is I think two years younger then his wife, it might be less. But I think that for the most part, age doesn't really matter for how much old or younger they are from you. I think that it's more of are they mature enough to date and be in a relationship with you and is God calling you to date that person. |

i agree with everybody. at our ages, age makes a difference because i'm not going to start dating a 26 year old at 16, let alone even a 20 year old. but when i'm 20? i'd probably date anybody within the age range of 20-30, sure. any more than 10 years, though, i don't think i could handle. and i believe God knows that and will choose a man who's within 1-10 years older than me. :] |

I'm going to agree and summarize: when your older, the smallest age difference can be bad. as you get older, it's less a problem, but there is such a thing as too much age difference. I think a great rule of thumb (especially in young couples our age) is that the guy should be a little bit older because girls mature faster than guys. I'd feel sorry for a guy in a relationship with an older girl and without FYMO to help him out. He would be so lost and so behind, I think. |

yeahh, i agree with ryan on this one. the guy i like (and am not sure if i could seriously even be in a relationship with him or not, but nevertheless i do like him) is 19, a year and 9 months older to be exact (he figured it out), and currently a freshman in college. if i started dating him right now, that'd be a little weird for me and others, i think. i'm only a junior and about to turn 17 in 12 days. but when we're older, will it seem that big of a deal? not to me. hope you all get my point.
