Subject: How do you know he is honest?

Last year I had two boys interested in me. I spent time with them and just told them that we just can be friends...well...was interesting experience to get to know them. How do you know if he is honest? How do you know that he really means what he is saying? Can I just trust his words? Well, I did trust his words and I believe him that he meant it honest. But how do you know that it was really true and that he meant what he said? Thanks for your help!

How can you know, that you can trust this guy? You spent three month with him on the same campus and got to know him quite well. How do you know if its true what he told you? Can I just believe it 'cause he said it?

If you're questioning whether someone is being real with you, there is a reason that you are questioning it. Either you are having trouble trusting because of things that happened to you, or he is doing something that makes it hard for you to trust him. There is no formula for whether anyone is trustworthy or not. It is something that you- unfortunately- have to figure out for yourself. If you are questioning whether you can trust someone- depending on how you distrust them- give them the benefit of the doubt. If you think a guy is going to physically hurt you, if you even question it at all, be careful to always have someone that you do trust around, or at least always stay in crowds when you are with this guy. If you aren't sure if he really likes you or if he is just saying that he does, then, like I said, he must be doing something or giving off some vibe that makes you not trust what he is saying. Until you are sure- not just talking yourself into something, but sure- then just take your time. If you are the one with trust issues- same thing, let him prove to you that he is trustworthy. Don't set him up to fail, don't test him, and know that no one is perfect. But again, take your time and just enjoy being friends. There is no rush!

I completely agree with Adelynn. it took me a good, long while to learn to trust the guy in my life. how do you know, without a shadow of a doubt? if his actions match up with his words. if he tells you, "I like you!" but then goes off and flirts with 3 other girls, that's distrustful. but if he's pouring his heart out to you, and it's obvious he's really trying to show you what you mean to him, that's how the trust will build. it's not just, BANG! you trust him. so don't get angry with him or yourself if you can't 100% commit right now, that'll come, if it ever should. take your time and time will tell.
