This was a crazy day: speaking in Atlanta in the morning, racing to the airport and speaking with Jeff in Wichita at night
It started off with a bang. In the morning I did a corporate presentation at a Fortune 100 corporation here in Atlanta, on my findings for women in business. It was in the context of a summit for 20- and 30-somethings, upcoming leaders in the business world, and my session for women was packed. This was arranged and co-presented by a great friend of mine with connections at this business, and it was a blast to do that with her and see the fascinated response of the women there. A shot in the arm when I am SO behind on the book, that at least I’m going in the right direction!
Then I hopped a plane for Wichita Kansas and met up with Jeff there. He took the earlier flight … just in case mine got delayed and he had to go on solo. Which he said he would truly kill me if that happened, so I’m glad everything went without a hitch. This was an incredibly encouraging event. Essentially, the national Catholic Engaged Encounter group meets every two years and they asked us to come in and speak Friday night. They are looking at updating their curriculum for their Engaged Encounter weekends and wanted to hear more about our research. I’m so grateful! And my publisher was so generous to donate 350 books to the group, which I think was a wonderful gesture to a group of leaders who pour themselves out in ministry to engaged couples.
The people there were so encouraging and enthusiastic – it was a LOT of fun for Jeff and I to be there. And we’re hoping that they do update their curriculum and include some of these findings – I continue to see so many relationships failing for lack of understanding such simple truths! It doesn’t mean every relationship problem is simple to solve – but if so many of them can be solved but something simple, we need to get it out there!
