Today was a treat.  A whirlwind, but a treat.  I flew to Dallas, met with some delightful leaders from Gateway Church about possibly doing a business-women’s event for them next year, then met with the folks at Decision Analyst who have conducted all the surveys for my books, then ran back to the hotel, hastily changed clothes, and headed off to the Life Today studio for a show with James and Betty Robison.  Each one of those things would have been a highlight of my trip, but all three at once were a gift!

I have to say, every time I spend time with James and Betty Robison, I’m more and more blessed by them.  They are the real deal, and they have spent their lives trying to point people to the only One who can give life.  Not only that, but they have also spent their lives pointing their viewers and listeners to how they can help the ‘least of these’ among us, with things as simple but essential as feeding children and adults in starving areas of Africa.  Every time they show the lines of children with their new red bowls, getting scoops of food that they didn’t have before, just because the Robison’s listeners cared enough to give, my heart breaks a little.  We have no concept in our culture of just what it is like to have a child literally die because they don’t have enough to eat.  I’m so grateful the Robison’s use their visibility to point people to these critical ways we can help.  I found myself praying that God would use me the same way.  It is so easy to get absorbed by the next thing on our plates – the book signings or the next TV interview, or watching Amazon rankings, or thinking and planning for the next book or the next speaking engagement – and lose sight of the fact that God has given us these platforms for HIS purposes and one of those purposes almost certainly has to be to help those who are closest to the heart of Jesus.
